The Sitka Maritime Heritage Society hosts a sea otter history and wildlife cruise this week. In addition to looking for marine wildlife, guests will hear from speaker Jerry Deppa about the history of sea otters and their reintroduction to the area in the 1960s. Keith Nyitray and Bruce Gazaway joined KCAW’s Brooke Schafer to discuss the event, which is a fundraiser for Sitka Maritime Heritage Society. Listen to the full interview below:

The cruise is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Thursday, July 4 at Crescent Harbor. Tickets are $65 and available at sitkamaritime.org.
