With the fiftieth anniversary of statehood just around the corner in 2009, the Alaska Statehood Celebration Commission is ramping up public awareness by putting the anniversary logo just about everywhere they can – including on our license plates.
Former Sitka resident Dean Potter designed the logo during a juried competition in the final year of the Murkowski administration. It is striking and simple: a vertical blue rectangle with the big dipper and the words Alaska 50. Interview with KCAWs Robert Woolsey.
