SITKA, ALASKA Alaska Communication Systems technicians are still trying to figure out what caused the loss of some internet service in Sitka this afternoon. ACS customers were unable to use the internet between 12:20 and 1:15 in the afternoon Monday. As many as 1,000 business and residential customers may have lost DSL Internet and wireless data service. Cell phone users were unaffected by the outage. Heather Cavanaugh, director of corporate communications for ACS, told KCAW that although technicians quickly restored service, they had yet to determine the exact cause of the outage.
