SITKA, ALASKA
The Senate’s capital budget outlines spending on projects across the state. Other projects in Sitka include $3.6 million for ultraviolet water disinfection and $2.2 million to repair the Nelson Logging Road.
Throughout the region, $1.9 million is allocated for hydro upgrades in Pelican. Nearby Elfin Cove is set to receive $347,000 for hydro upgrades, too.
Changes will likely be made as the Senate Finance Committee, the full Senate and the House review the $2.8 billion list of projects. Governor Sean Parnell has also suggested he would veto projects if his oil-tax bill is not passed.
