Author Desiree Hellegers says listening to the stories of the homeless will shatter our assumptions about the causes of homelessness. Now a professor of English at Washington State University-Vancouver, Hellegers spent her early career working at the Compass Center in Seattle. She’s just published “No Room of Her Own: Women’s Stories of Homelessness, Life, Death, and Resistance” and will read selections at 7PM tonight in Kettleson Library. She was joined on the Morning Interview by Mim McConnel, a Sitka assembly member, and co-founder of the Easter Group, which is planning “Project Homeless Connect” this January.
