Most days, Ella Lubin and Lily Hood are 8th graders at Blatchley Middle School. But earlier this month, they were sent on a special reporting assignment by KCAW to cover Whalefest 2014.

Sitka Whalefest draws scientists from all over the world for a three-day symposium to share their research and this year’s theme was Gizmos and Gadgets. Using their own gadget, a digital audio recorder, Ella and Lily filed this audio postcard with a flashback to the whale filled weekend.

Downloadable audio.

This audio postcard from Whalefest was recorded by Ella Lubin and Lily Hood, who are students at Blatchley Middle School. They received help from Janelle Farvour, who is the coordinator of the Gifted & Talented Program.
