A Sitka man is facing four felony counts and two misdemeanor charges following a late-night standoff with police earlier this month.
A Sitka grand jury last Friday (1-16-15) indicted 33-year old River J. Dailey on four counts of Assault in the 3rd Degree, for allegedly threatening the lives of a man and his wife, and the lives of two police officers who responded to their call for assistance.
Dailey was also charged with Disorderly Conduct and Violating Conditions of Release.
The charges stem from an incident on January 11 when police were summoned to a residence on the 1300-block of Halibut Point Road. Dailey and another man were inside a boat parked beside the house, and Dailey allegedly had begun making threats against the man, and against his wife inside the house.
According to court records, Dailey also allegedly made verbal threats against the officers who responded on scene.
Unsure if Dailey was in possession of a weapon or other means to carry out his threats, police blocked traffic on Halibut Point Road and used pepper spray to force Dailey from the boat, and arrested him.
The Public Defender has been appointed to represent Dailey. He remains in custody pending the court’s approval of a third-party custodian. Bail has been set at $5,000.
