A Sitka man died late last week of an apparent drug overdose.
According to a Police Department press release issued Monday, dispatch received a call shortly after 11 AM on Friday (3-6-15) from an apartment on Monastery St. that a man was not breathing. Dispatch instructed the caller to perform CPR until emergency medical personnel arrived.
Once on scene responders attempted to resuscitate 24-year old Ian Blair, but were unsuccessful.
Blair’s body was transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Anchorage to confirm the cause of death. A suspected drug overdose is cited in the police dispatch records.
Blair was a 2009 graduate of Sitka High School, where he played on the baseball team. After graduation he remained in Sitka working in fishing and construction. Most recently, he was a crew member of the seine vessel Archangel.
Blair’s family lives in Sitka. A celebration of his life is pending.
