The Girls Scouts of Alaska is launching this year’s summer day camps for K-12 girls, hosted in several areas of KCAW’s listening region. Victoria Lord, the Member Services and Program Specialist for Southern Southeast Alaska, shared the camp’s “girl-led” philosophy and how to participate. Campers will take part in recreational activities, like camping and hiking, and work together on a community project.
Lord also discussed the upcoming Women of Science and Technology Day (WSTD) this September in Sitka, which offers workshops for girls led by women in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) careers.
For information about Day Camp, see the catalog for more information. The cost is $40/girl and $60/family. There are scholarships available. Contact Victoria Lord at 907-617-2160 for more details.
