Come October, I will have worked with Raven Radio for 25 years and I’m ready to grow in a new direction. I moved to Sitka in 1990 to take the job of Chief Announcer, then worked as Morning Edition Host, Program Director and for the past 11 years as General Manager. It is impossible to explain how much Raven Radio means to me; how deeply I am moved by every single volunteer that has braved the microphone to tell their story; my respect for staff and board that embrace our purpose with passion; how proud I am that each of you reading this support Raven Radio with uncommon dedication. Thank you all for inspiring me these past 25 years.
I’m stepping away very happy and with complete confidence in the current staff and board to continue Raven’s legacy of community vitality. I am not retiring from work, just from Raven Radio. I don’t have specific plans at the moment, but Rachel and I intend to stay in Sitka and I will be looking for my second career in the months to come.
I leave with some sadness, but more so with excitement about what the future holds for me and for Raven Radio! In the meantime, we have a 4th of July Root Beer Float Party, our Travel Raffle, a Fall Drive and of course the Stardust Costume Ball to enjoy together!
