Melissa Marconi-Wentzel, the Director with the Sitka Health Summit, invites the citizens of Sitka to participate in a quality of life survey by the end of July. This is the first comprehensive survey of it’s kind in the island city of 9000 year-round residents. As Marconi-Wentzel explains, the survey attempts a assessment – both qualitative and quantitative – of the health of the community. Questions include, “Is Sitka a good place to raise children?” and “Is this community a good place to grow old?”
The survey will gather data for an upcoming report called the “Sitka MAPP Community Health Assessment.” Marconi-Wentzel says the report will be available online at the end of August. The goal is to use the data to generate a community action plan and to make the report available to non-profits, healthcare providers, and city planners.
The survey is available online through Survey Monkey at this link. Paper copies will also be distributed by the twenty members of the MAPP steering committee. To contact Marconi-Wenzel, call 907-738-0462.
