Mayor Mim McConnell was joined by City Administrator Mark Gorman to invite Sitkans to participate in a citizens’ taskforce (CT) on city services, revenues, and fees.
The Assembly directed city staff to set up the task force at the last meeting on June 24, 2015. According to McConnell and Gorman, the 7-member focus group will include a Chair and Vice Chair and will meet for six months. The group will be tasked with determining Sitka’s core services and how to fund those services with sustainable revenue.
Interested Sitkans can apply at the City Clerks office on the 3rd floor of City Hall. The CT will be appointed by the assembly, with a special interest in applicants with an understanding of taxation, finance, and small community economics. The CT will be co-staffed by Jay Sweeney, CBS Chief Finance and Administrative Officer, and Wendy Lawrence, CBS Assessor.
Applications for the taskforce are due next Wednesday, July 8. The city clerk’s number is 747-1811.
