The 6th Annual Sitka Seafood Festival is this Thursday, August 6 through Sunday, August 9. Director Carolyn Kinneen was joined by Vice President Alicia Haseltine to talk about what’s different this year and to remark on returning favorites, including the tote races, parade, and Highland Games. On Thursday and Friday, several cooking classes will be hosted by UAF’s Cooperative Extension at Sitka Kitch, including salmon canning and pickling. All of Saturday’s events are taking place at the Sheldon Jackson Campus, except for the tote race at Crescent Harbor Shelter. Advanced registration is required for the tote race and the parade by calling Linda at 747-6985. To register for the Highland Games, contact Eric at 206-681-8841.
According to Kinneen, volunteers are needed throughout the festival and especially for the Banquet on Friday (08-07-15). For more information, her number is 227-8422.
