Raven Radio’s summer intern Katherine Rose will peddle off to new heights this fall, as she completes her Masters Degree in Journalism at UC Berkeley. (Emily Kwong/KCAW)

For 15 years, Raven Radio has recruited its summer intern through the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism. And this summer, we were lucky to find a radio superstar in Katherine Rose.

Since the moment she arrived, Katherine embraced Sitka and the people who make it tick. From a deacon ringing the bells at noon to young scientists tracking bird song, her stories brought clever writing, luminous sound design, and human feeling front and center.Katherine will be returning to Berkeley next week to fulfill her Masters Degree in Journalism.

Here’s more stories that Katherine produced this summer:

We’d also like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the Daily Sitka Sentinel. This winter, Thad and James Poulson noticed our intern bicycle was in dire need to an upgrade. In a blink, they offered us a newly restored set of wheels. Sturdy in construction. Blue in color. For a new reporter shuffling from one interview to another, a smooth mode of transport makes a world of difference. Thank you, Sitka Sentinel!
