Frank Soos is professor emeritus at the University of Alaska and the current Alaska State Writer Laureate. Soos talks about his writing process, growing up in the coal fields of West Virginia, and Alaska’s blossoming writing scene. He’s joined by Carolyn Servid, Founding Director of the Island Institute.
Soos has published two volumes of short stories, Early Yet and Unified Field Theory as well as two collections of essays, Bamboo Fly Rod Suite and Unpleasantries. Unified Field Theory was awarded the Flannery O’Connor Award for Short Fiction. His most recent book, Double Moon: Constructions and Conversations, is a collaborative work with his wife, the artist Margo Klass.
