The Coast Guard Auxiliary is not against fun. In fact, the water is one of the major pleasures of living in SE. “We teach you risk management,” says Morris. (KCAW photo)

“Suddenly in Command” is a boating safety class tailored for students who don’t plan on being in charge of a vessel during an operational emergency, but might be in that role nonetheless, if the captain or operator is somehow incapacitated. USCG Auxiliary Sitka Flotilla member Mike Morris has taught the class for ten years. 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 24, upstairs in the Masonic Lodge (above the furniture store at the roundabout). Cost is $15, and although advance registration is unnecessary, Morris welcomes calls with questions at 747-8039 or sitkaaux@hotmail.com.
