The US Coast Guard Air Station Sitka was called to action Wednesday morning (03-21-18) when a troller ran aground in Peril Strait. At around 4:45 a.m., the fishing vessel EH ran aground near Saoot Point.

Air Station Sitka responded, transporting two men and one woman back to land with no injuries.

The grounding is still under investigation, with the cause unknown. The Coast Guard’s Marine Safety Detachment unit is currently working with the owner to secure and remove the vessel, which has 120 gallons of diesel on board in fuel tanks.

Correction: An earlier version of this story stated that the Commercial Fisheries Entry Commission Database lists Dennis Hicks as the vessel owner. KCAW spoke with Hicks who sold the boat in 2017.
