Sitka Public Library Director Andrew Murphy talks the library’s new podcast service, “Sitka Sounds,” and their first podcast featuring the work of local and visiting writers. He was joined by Senior Library Assistant Brooke Schafer and Tina Johnson coordinator of the Island Institute’s “Writer’s Read” program, a series of public events for writers to share their work. “Podcasts are the evolution of the library capturing oral histories,” said Murphy. Johnson also noted that the new director for the Island Institute is Aurora Lang, who replaces previous director Peter Bradley.
