Events include a “Why Bike? The Outstanding Benefits of Riding a Bicycle,” a Doc Talk led by SEARHC provider Dr. Irbert Vega from 6- 7 p.m. at Sitka Public Library. SEARHC is also sponsoring “Bike to a Healthier You.”
On May 5th, Sitka Trail Works will co-sponsor a cross-trail bike ride. The ride begins at the Indian River Trailhead at 9 a.m. May 9th is “National Bike to School Day.”
“Each day of Bike to Work Week (May 14th to 18th) is something,” said Osborne. Participants can honor cyclists who have been killed during the national Ride of Silence, at 7 p.m. on May 16th. The annual Bike Rodeo is on Saturday, May 12th. Kids can get properly sized for a bicycle and practice their skills on a course. The month will culminate with the annual Community Bike Ride on May 26th, starting 11 a.m. at Totem Square.
