The Electric Department is planning another outage this weekend, this time to replace a transmission pole on Sawmill Creek Road near Allen Marine.
In a statement released by the city, the work is scheduled to begin on Saturday, May 5th at 8 a.m. or Sunday, May 6th at 8 a.m., weather permitting.
While the pole is being replaced, the city will draw diesel power from the Jarvis Street Transfer Station. No customers are expected to be without power during this work.
Customers experienced a few unplanned outages in April and the city has an explanation for that too. Northern Powerline Constructors, the city’s electrical contractor, is in town to conduct annual work. Replacing aging infrastructure, such as poles and transmission lines, has led to periodic failure.
In a statement, Utility Director Bryan Bertacchi said, “We want to thank our customers for their patience and understanding as we replace this aged and failing equipment.”
