Two more coronavirus cases were reported in Sitka on Monday.
According to the state’s coronavirus dashboard, the number of cases reported over the last 7 days decreased to 21. Three of the cases were non-residents, and 18 were residents. Sitka will remain in high COVID alert until the number of COVID cases in a week drops below nine.
Yesterday, KCAW reported that the state reported 1 new case over the weekend. As of this morning, that number was updated to two.
Since the pandemic began, Sitka has reported 1128 total coronavirus cases, 23 hospitalizations and five deaths associated with the virus.
According to the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services 68% of Sitka’s total population, including those who are not yet eligible for the vaccine, has been fully vaccinated, with 73% of the total population receiving only one dose.
