Mayor Steven Eisenbeisz filed to run for reelection last week (7-17-24). KCAW spoke with Eisenbeisz about his decision to run for a third term as Sitka’s mayor, maintaining city projects and managing the city’s economic growth, and why he thinks tourism is “the question of our generation.”
Eisenbeisz is the first candidate to file for the mayor’s chair, a two-year term. Two assembly seats and two school board seats are also up for grabs in this year’s municipal election , all three-year terms. So far two Sitkans have filed to run for the assembly seats, Robert Hattle and current assembly member Kevin Mosher.
The candidate filing period closes on Friday, August 2 at 5 p.m. Those interested in running for office can pick up a packet from the municipal clerk’s office on the third floor of city hall.
