A GoFundMe campaign for a young man injured in a boating accident in Sitka last weekend (8-4-24) has raised almost $22,000.

The young man – Harper – lost one leg below the knee when he fell overboard in Sealing Cove Sunday evening, and struck a moving boat propeller.

Rickelle Kitka is organizing the effort on Harper’s behalf. She wrote, “The journey to recovery will be long and demanding, involving multiple surgeries, extensive physical therapy, and the need for a prosthetic limb. The medical expenses, along with the cost of rehabilitation and necessary adaptations to his daily life, are overwhelming.”

The GoFundMe goal is $100,000.
