Sitka High Cross Country dominated the field on their home course, during a Region V mid-season Cross Country meet last weekend (9-15-24). In the boy’s event, Connor Hitchcock outpaced 89 other runners, winning in 16:19.16, twenty-three seconds ahead of the second-place runner, Boomchain Loucks of Wrangell. Sitka’s Trey Demmert, Francis Myers, and Calder Prussian all finished in the top ten.

Sitka’s Clare Mullin was the fastest girl, with a time of 18:35.83. Mullin, however, ran in the boy’s race, taking 14th place out of a field of 90 male runners. Marina Dill of Sitka crossed the finish line first in the girl’s race, with teammates Aliyah Merculief, Natalie Hall, Jadelynn Kubik, and Marina Marley all finishing in the top seven.

Mt. Edgecumbe runners also put in a strong performance, with Aries Bioff taking thirteenth place in the girl’s event, and Nathaniel Vincler taking seventh in the boy’s.
