Sitka municipal administrator John Leach discusses the merger of the school district with the city Maintenance Department which began on July 1, 2024. The transition should be mostly invisible to the public with one exception: The Blatchley Swimming Pool. The pool has been moved under the city’s Parks & Recreation division, which now has aquatics supervisor. Swim times, classes, and other programming information (including information about lifeguard training) can be found on Sitka’s Parks & Recreation website.
