A Sitka Grand Jury today (on Thursday 10-17-24) indicted 37-year-old Keoki R. K. Tafaoialii on two counts of Terroristic Threatening in the second degree, following an incident last week at the Mt. Edgecumbe Medical Center.

According to a Sitka Police Department press release, on October 11 a concerned citizen reported that an individual was seen at the center wearing body armor and had made threatening statements while in the parking lot. The reporting party stated that the male had been dissuaded from carrying out any threats and had returned to his home.

Officers contacted the male at his residence and alledge that he was in possession of a firearm, ammunition, and a tactical vest. Officers were able to convince the individual to seek a medical evaluation and he was transported to the hospital without incident.

Tafaoialii remains in custody pending $20,000 bail. Further court proceedings have not yet been scheduled.
