Researchers, marine pilots work to prevent vessel strikes from killing Alaska whales

Federal researchers and Southeast Alaska's marine pilots are putting their heads together to work out the best ways to avoid vessel strikes that have been confirmed to have killed nearly 80 whales in Alaska over 10 years. They've been using Glacier Bay National Park as the laboratory to log whale behavior to better understand the their interactions with large vessels like cruise ships.
