New Archangel Dancers recruitment open, no experience necessary

The New Archangel Dancers is the second-longest running all-women's Russian Folk Dancing group, and one of Sitka's most popular tourist venues. Recruitment is now open for new dancers, 7-9 p.m. on November 18 and 24, at their studio on Smith Street. No experience is necessary, but must be 18 years and older.

Taxi company’s suit against city set to go to trial in November

The Sitka Police Department is under scrutiny in the Sitka District Court again, this time over allegations that the Chief of Police retaliated against a local taxi company. In September, a Sitka Superior Court judge found that by creating new rules for taxis, the police chief violated the separation of powers. But the city argues that the court’s interpretation of municipal law is incorrect.
